Connect

Connect

“I am the vine; you are the branches.” – John 15:5

As you begin to connect, you will find yourself developing a sense of belonging, a connection to the church and its people. You very well may also find that you’re establishing a meaningful relationship with God. At St. Matthew’s, we believe that this is the most life-changing experience that a person can have, one that brings peace, joy and hope into all of life. At this stage, perhaps you have found that we are a family of faith for you!

If you’ve truly connected, where do you go from here? Try these ideas:
  1. Make the commitment to small group participation. (See the church website or newsletter to find groups appropriate for your age or stage.) This setting is where you will build relationships with other Christians who desire to continue walking along the path of discipleship with Jesus Christ.
  2. Join a Sunday School class, sign up for a course at Wednesday Night Live, take part in a Bible study group, etc. Make weekly worship part of your routine. It is the touchstone to which we return every week. There we renew our connections with God and others, and we recommit ourselves to making the world a better place, more like what God has in mind. Get hungry to learn! There’s a lot to learn about the Christian faith and many opportunities to do so. As you learn, your connections grow stronger and stronger.
  3. Serve alongside others. Working together strengthens us as individuals and as a church. And don’t forget to celebrate new friends, perhaps even a newfound relationship with God, that you haven’t known before.
